Amarillo's Only Classical, Christian, Collaborative School

Classical

  • The Classical Educational model aims to nurture skilled and confident learners as we encourage their natural curiosity and cultivate joy in learning.

    • A Classical education sets the table fully with great books and excellent materials, training the appetite for truth, goodness, and beauty.

    • A Classical education prioritizes the cultivation of wisdom and diligence alongside mental capacity.

    • A Classical education begins with the end in mind, teaching the child how to learn.

    • A Classical education teaches subjects in conversation with one another rather than in isolation from one another.

    • A Classical education emphasizes the liberal arts, integrating the study of languages, mathematics, humanities, science, logic and rhetoric.

Christian

  • A Christian education recognizes that as we pursue the study of language or math or science, we approach them as systems created by God and held together in Christ (Col. 1:15-17). Our educational efforts naturally point us toward Him.

We seek to love God with our hearts, souls, minds and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:29-31). Our mission is to cultivate love for God, depth of character and intellectual excellence in our students as they learn to serve their neighbors and lead well in the world.

Our school is named The Oaks Christian Academy because of our desire to love the LORD our God with all of ourselves, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. In other words, the cultivation of deep roots allows us to offer strength and shade to the world.

Collaborative

  • This model is an approach to education that combines (1) time in the classroom with highly trained and qualified teachers and (2) time spent learning at home with the parents who know and steward the child’s development over many years.

Students benefit from the parent’s role as para teacher and shepherd. They also benefit from the expertise of gifted educators and a strong community of peers. The University-Model School’s most unique asset is the way it gradually prepares students to launch into college and beyond, with time management skills both inside and outside of the classroom.

Keep their growing minds engaged

The Oaks Christian Academy admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.
