Heidi Hickman

Mrs. Hickman studied English Literature at Mississippi State University before completing a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. A lifelong reader and writer, she is grateful for every opportunity to read and learn at home with her family and with students at The Oaks.
Heidi and her husband, Brad, co-founded The Oaks in 2018. They live in Amarillo, with their three sons and two daughters, where they serve at Hillside Christian Church. They love to spend time outside and travel together.
Jennifer McDaniel

Jennifer McDaniel

Program Support Coordinator

Mrs. McDaniel received her Bachelor of Music with an Education Emphasis from West Texas A&M University before adding a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology and Design. She has an extensive background in music education, IT, and preschool education which informs her role in Program Support at The Oaks.
Jennifer and her husband Aaron live in Canyon, attend Hillside Christian Church, and enjoy reading and spending time together as a family.
Cynthia Meeks

Mrs. Meeks studied Education, with Math emphasis, at West Texas A&M University. She is certified to teach math in 4th through 8th grades, and she taught 7th grade math in the public school system. She has held a number of leadership roles with Classical Homeschool groups in Amarillo since 2014. In 2018, Cynthia and her family helped to found The Oaks.
Cynthia and her husband, Jered, love spending time with their four children and learning all sorts of things together.  They are members of Southwest Church of Christ.

Sarah Leverett

2nd Grade

Mrs. Leverett received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Hardin-Simmons University. She received her Texas Teaching certification in Early Childhood-6th grade, and she has taught 4th grade reading, writing and kindergarten.
She is married to Carson, and they are raising their two children in Amarillo, Texas. They attend both Southwest Church of Christ and St. Mary’s. She enjoys reading, cooking, and making memories with her family.

Judy Lynch

Mrs. Lynch received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas Tech University and is certified in K-8th grade with an emphasis in Latin. She taught Latin for several years and served on various literacy teams in a public school setting before joining The Oaks.
She and her husband, Barry, both grew up in Amarillo and value the gift of having local, long-term friendships and close family ties. They have one son and serve at Hillside Christian Church. Mrs. Lynch is a committed lifetime learner and craves reading, writing, oil painting, and traveling.

Rebecca Attaway

Rebecca Attaway

6th Grade Math, 7th Grade Math
Mrs. Attaway received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Liberty University. She loves to discover more about God through the study of math, and has worked with children for the last 13 years.
Rebecca has been married since 2002 to her best friend, Rob, who serves on staff at Hillside Christian Church. They love to take family trips with their three daughters and son.
Mandy Carbajal

Mandy Carbajal

6th Grade History/Bible, 7th Grade History

Mrs. Carbajal studied History and Music at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX, after which she served as an archivist in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. She taught K – 6th music for eight years in New Mexico before moving back to Texas to raise her three girls and teach sewing classes through her small business, Stitch.
Mandy and her husband, Sergio, attend Trinity Fellowship North Campus, where they minister to young families. Mrs. Carbajal enjoys reading biographies, sewing clothes, cooking with red and green chile, and traveling with her family.
Helen Cash

1st Grade

Mrs. Cash received a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from West Texas A & M University. She is certified in Early Childhood through 4th grade and in English as a Second Language. She taught pre-k and kindergarten for 10 years in the public school system before joining The Oaks.
She and her husband, Andy, both grew up in Amarillo and serve at Hillside Christian Church. They love spending time with their family and traveling. They have three young boys who love everything sports and outdoors.
Stacey Chase

Stacey Chase

1st-4th Grade Science
5th Grade Math
Mrs. Chase received her Master of Science in Mathematics from West Texas A&M University. She spent a total of twelve years teaching at WTAMU.
Stacey and her husband, Ben, along with their two daughters, live in Amarillo and attend Redeemer Christian Church. They all love the outdoors, but when inside they enjoy books, movies and puzzles.
Kristen Cooper

Kristen Cooper

1st Grade
Mrs. Cooper obtained a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Abilene Christian University. She is certified in Early Childhood-4th grade, and has experience teaching various lower elementary grades and in reading intervention.
She is married to Casey, and they are raising their four children in Canyon, Texas. Mrs. Cooper’s hobbies are camping, cheering for the Texas Rangers, watching her kids’ sporting events and traveling to the beach and the mountains. They are members at University Church of Christ in Canyon.
Ginger Hagen

Art Enrichment
Mrs. Hagen earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Belhaven University in Jackson, MS, owing to her love of literature and writing. After graduation, she taught art and creative writing at a local homeschool co-op, where she was inspired to pursue a Classical Homeschool education for her own family.
Ginger and her husband, Tim, settled in Amarillo in 2006, where she continued her studies in Education at West Texas A&M. She has been teaching art in the area since 2008. Her family attends St. Mary’s Cathedral where Ginger serves as a catechist. She is grateful for the opportunity she has at The Oaks to merge her love of art with her ever unfolding knowledge of history as she learns alongside her kids.
Tracie Jackson

Tracie Jackson

Kindergarten
Mrs. Jackson received a Bachelor of Science in Finance at West Texas A&M before returning to study Education. Mrs. Jackson taught preschool for eight years before joining The Oaks.
Tracie and her husband, Dan, live in Canyon with their 3 children and occasional foster children. They attend Hillside Christian Church and enjoy boating, skiing, and traveling as a family.

Keri Terrell

Logic School Science
Mrs. Terrell  received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from West Texas A&M University.  She worked as a Registered Nurse in the hospital / clinical setting for 7 years and then she spent a total of 5 years teaching Vocational Nursing at Amarillo College and South Plains College.
Keri and her husband, Lance, along with their three sons, live in Canyon and attend Redeemer Christian Church. They enjoy the outdoors, hiking in Palo Duro Canyon,  going to the mountains and watching movies together.
Rexanne McNutt

Rexann McNutt

Kindergarten
Mrs. McNutt received a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from West Texas A&M University.  She is certified Early Childhood through fourth grade and English as a Second Language. She has taught kindergarten, second, and third grade for sixteen years in the public school system.
Rexann and her husband, Bryant, are raising their four children in Canyon. They love spending time with their family and enjoying the outdoors. They attend Hillside Christian Church in Canyon.
Mandi Richardson

Mandi Richardson

2nd Grade
Mrs. Richardson received her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Texas Tech University. She has experience as a Kindergarten teacher, an ESL teacher (English as a Second Language), and an intervention teacher.
Mandi and her husband, Doug, are members of Central Church of Christ. They love spending time with family and friends and taking trips with their two children.
Kelly Tucker

Kelly Tucker

2nd Grade
Mrs. Tucker earned a Master of Accountancy from Texas Tech University and is a Certified Public Accountant. She has been homeschooling classically since 2015, and is pursuing teacher certification specific to the Classical, Christian education.
Kelly and her husband, Eric, were raised in Amarillo and cherish their time with their three girls. They are members of Redeemer Christian Church. Kelly loves reading, learning, exploring the outdoors, and new adventures.
Kali Peddy

3rd Grade
Mrs. Peddy received a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from West Texas A&M University. She is certified in Early Childhood through 4th grade and in English as a Second Language. She also holds a master’s degree in school administration. She taught 1st grade for 10 years in the public school system before joining The Oaks.
She and her husband, Jared, were both born and raised in the Canyon and Texas panhandle areas, and serve at Hillside Christian Church in Canyon. Mrs. Peddy is an avid reader. She and her husband love spending time with their family and friends, traveling, and making memories outdoors with their son and two daughters.

Mrs. Wier obtained a Bachelor of Behavioral Science in Psychology with a minor in Bible from Hardin-Simmons University. She is certified in Elementary Self-Contained Grades 1-8 and has experience teaching 3rd-6th grades. Mrs. Wier taught for 14 years in public school settings before joining The Oaks in 2018.
Lis and her husband, Jason, are raising their three children in Amarillo. They attend First Baptist Church and enjoy spending time exploring new places as a family. Their favorite traveling experiences include adventuring through national parks, meandering through historic small-towns, and camping in their trailer. Mrs. Wier enjoys gardening, reading, cultivating deep friendships, and spending cherished time with her family.
John Polley

John Polley

Athletic Director
Coach Polley obtained a Bachelor of Science in Finance from University of Northwestern, St. Paul. In addition to his career as a Branch Manager and Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley, Coach Polley is the Athletic Director at The Oaks.
He played college football and has coached a number of youth teams over the last ten years in football, baseball and baseball. He is a member at First Baptist Church in Canyon, with his wife Diedra and their four children. In his free time, Coach Polley enjoys working out, shooting and reading.

Mrs. Banta received a Bachelor's degree in English from West Texas A&M University. She is certified in 4-8 English Language Arts with a supplemental ESL certification. She taught ELA, journalism, and video production in the public school system for 4 years.
Erica is married to Preston, and together they enjoy adventures and the outdoors with their two boys. They also enjoy serving their church family at Messiah's House.

Mrs. Craven is a lifelong learner who has enjoyed teaching her own children from Kindergarten through high school. She especially loves reading and discussing literature and history, and she is currently pursuing a degree in Communication Studies.
Season and her husband, Ray, have four children and love their family time. They are passionate about community and find great joy serving at Hillside Christian Church.

Mrs. Forbis earned a Master of Science at Texas Woman's University. She is passionate about homeschool education, ministry in the home, and building a rich community of friendship.
Alisha and her husband, John, have three children. They enjoy time as a family traveling, being outdoors, reading, and serving at Hillside Christian Church.
Natasha Gehring

Mrs. Gehring spent 9 years in dental hygiene and childcare before joining The Oaks as a Program Support team member.
She and her husband, Reid, grew up in Amarillo and have enjoyed raising their three children at Hillside Christian Church where they worship and serve. Natasha loves to read - by herself and to her kids.
Lora Taylor

Staff Childcare

Mrs. Taylor has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Texas A&M University. In addition to her nursing career, she is eager to teach staff preschool children at The Oaks this year.
Lora and her husband, Drake, helped to found The Oaks in 2018 and serve on the Board of Directors. She enjoys friendship with other moms and time outdoors with family riding bikes, camping, gardening and cooking. The Taylors are members of HIllside Chrsitian Church.
